Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (The Musical)

The team of Michael Gareau (artistic director) and John McGovern (musical director) directed TotoToo’s 2014-15 award winning productino of Avenue Q and they are returning to bring the award-winning Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The Musical to life on our stage. 

With book by Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliot and Allan Scott, using well-known pop songs as its score and adapted from Elliott's 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which tells the story of two drag queens and a transgender woman, who contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a resort town in the remote Australian desert. As they head west from Sydney aboard their lavender bus, Priscilla, the three friends come to the forefront of a comedy of errors, encountering a number of strange characters, as well as incidents of homophobia, while widening comfort zones and finding new horizons.

Performance rights for this musical were only released in March 2016 and TotoToo is proud to be among the first community theatres in North America to be granted these rights.  

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The Musical is sure to be a highlight of the Ottawa 2016-17 musical theatre season and is presented through special arrangement with Theatre Rights Worldwide, New York, NY
